Job description:

Position Summary:

We are looking for an individual who is highly experienced in systems administration related to online services. This person should have a strong background in managing all aspects of an Apache web server/hosting environment and is interested in using the develops philosophy.

Requirements:

Perform system administration for web and application servers

Work with development groups on assigned projects as a devops administrator

Perform in-depth maintenance and tuning.

Participate in an off-hours on-call rotation

Take an assigned standard day shift

Supervisory Responsibilities:
none.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Installation and troubleshooting of software packages and OS

Development as needed in Perl, Bash/Shell scripting.

Strong experience with Apache, MySQL

Strong experience with Web application management and troubleshooting

Strong experience in a DevOps environment

Strong experience in problem troubleshooting and systems monitoring operations dealing with networks and protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, FTP, SMTP, and DNS;

Strong background on use of code troubleshooting tools such as strace and gdb and network troubleshooting with tools such as tcpdump

Strong experience in configuration management such as Puppet or CF Engine

Strong experience with version control systems such as Subversion, Git, Mercurial

Strong detailed experience with systems and network monitoring software configurations

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Strong self-starter who is a team player

Desired Skills/Experience:
Ruby and/or Python knowledge a major plus

High availability configurations such as hardware load balancers, Heartbeat, etc.

Palo Alto or other stateful firewall traffic flow devices

Experience with event handling such as snmp traps, or syslog triggers

Minimum Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university highly preferred. 4 years of commensurate experience considered, and 2 years of professional work experience.

Must be a US citizen or have green card to apply.
