sid_22 Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 With most of the exit and post-poll surveys predicting the BJP-led NDA winning the Lok Sabha elections, regional parties and estranged allies seem to be warming up the saffron party. While the BJD indicated that it might extend conditional support to the NDA, an AIADMK leader too hinted that the party may end up joining the BJP-led alliance. Odisha's ruling party the BJD, a former ally of the BJP which had earlier vowed support to a non-BJP, non-Congress Front at the Centre, has now indicated that the party was willing to do business with a Narendra Modi-led government. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had often said that a 'Federal/Third Front' will form a government at the Centre. The party has now demanded special status for Odisha in return for its support. BJD leader Pravat Tripathi said, "Keeping in view the opinion of the whole country and the state's interest, there should be no problem in providing conditional support to NDA to form government at the Centre." However, Patnaik later clarified that the party was not in talks with the NDA and was yet to take a final call on extending the support. Soon after the BJD's U-turn, AIADMK leader K Malaisamy said that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and Narendra Modi were great friends and the former would like to keep close ties with the BJP if the Gujarat CM was appointed as the next Prime Minister. He said,"Modi is great friend of Jayalalithaa, they may differ politically. If he becomes PM then Madam would like close ties." Apparently taking a dig at the parties, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said, "After the exit polls the entire country want to join Narendra Modi. We will take everyone together." He however, also added that the NDA was open to alliance with all the parties. "If someone wants to join us , our doors are always open," said the party spokesperson. It needs to be noted that both the BJD and AIADMK had kept their cards close to the chest during the pre-poll season. While Jaya had prime ministerial aspirations, Patnaik was confident of a 'Third Front' coming to power. But, surprisingly both the parties skipped the key meeting of 'Third Front' constituents earlier this year. cherlapalli_jailer Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 Respect to Amma would be nice. The Supreme Court on Tuesday said it was not inclined to stay the trial at a Bangalore court in the disproportionate assets case against Tamil Nadu Chief minister J Jayalalithaa and others. A bench comprising justices B S Chauhan and A K Sikri, however, allowed the Chief Minister to withdraw the plea and move the Karnataka High Court. The Chief minister seeks a stay on the trial till the lower court decides the plea of Lex Property Development (P) Ltd, a Chennai-based firm. The company has alleged that the properties, which have been attached by the authorities as ‘benami’ holdings of Jayalalithaa, in fact, belonged to it and this plea be decided first before the lower court proceeds with the trial in the assets case.
cherlapalli_jailer Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 The court, meanwhile, allowed the company, which has separately challenged the attachment of properties, to cross examine the witnesses who may file certain documents. The plea of the company is coming up for hearing on May 15 in the lower court while the assets case is listed for arguments on May 19. The disproportionate assets case was shifted to Bangalore in 2003 following a Supreme Court directive on a petition alleging that a fair trial was not possible in Chennai during her tenure as Chief Minister then. Jayalalithaa faces charges of accumulation of over Rs 66 crore worth of assets disproportionate to her known sources of income. Besides Jayalalithaa, V K Sasikala, V N Sudhakaran and J Illavarasi are also facing trial in the case.

NCP is doubt.. but they can be brought to support on demand... NCP want to get some weightage in state eletions by supporting BJP. It is always better to have more allies.. give them the feeling that govt is also yours... It can be used to better modi/BJP image nationally and globally and corner UPA.
