posaanisam Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 Two persons were killed in the Kishanbagh area of Hyderabad today, allegedly in police firing during clashes between two groups.The area, which is in the old quarters of Hyderabad, is under curfew since the clashes erupted this morning over the burning of a religious flag. When the police tried to stop the fighting and stone-throwing, they found themselves outnumbered.The police claim that they fired when the situation was threatening to spiral out of control.At least seven people were reportedly injured.A large number of security forces have been posted in the troubled areas, say top police officers.City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma told reporters: "There was an incident of rioting between two groups and right now the situation is totally under control. We are ensuring that it does not have any other and further repercussions." Andhra Pradesh is currently under central rule. The state's governor ESL Narasimhan, a former police officer, is in direct charge of law and order.
