But Venkaiah Naidu has categorically rejected this proposal. “There is no way Hyderabad can be given UT status. Also, it is wrong to deprive one region of a city because they are not responsible for its development. However, I feel that the special status for Seemandhra for five years is not sufficient and might have to be increased.” These words of Venkaiah Naidu make it amply clear that the benefits to Seemandhra might accrue in terms of increase in tenure of special status to the region.
