Road work areas have speed monitors to display your speed that too use radar waves(K mostly, some X band). There are 3 types of radar waves mainly, X, K and Ka ..X, K were used by cops long before and they are not being used mostly now. All states are using Ka band, laser guns(LADAR) and PoP now. So you can disable X and K in Radar detector to ignore these alerts. Smart detectors like 9500ix store these false alerts(when you pass 3 times in that area or store alert manually) and wont alert you when you move through same area
