You yourself have said that US is a capitalist country and not a welfare country like India. Then dont you think democrats are turning this country into a welfare and food stamp country?

Canada model works as it has its own demographics to take into account and same applies to European countries.
USA is a capitalist country and its driven by free market and never have government interfered to the extent Obama has done with healthcare laws.
The problem here is the country is overrun by illegals and continuing so and already the welfare system is burdened to a point of explosion. If you see how premiums have sky rocketed and deductibles have quadrapuled with Obamacare mandate you will be in for sticker shock next year.

Small businesses cannot afford to pay that much amount and hence they have started laying off employees or stopped recruiting. The GDP has infact shrinked by 1% the start of this year. This will impact the already sagging economy.
Why do you think Labor unions (who are the vote bank for democrats) have started feeling the heat because employers have refused to take the additional burden due to Obamacare mandate.

Looks like you thought i am supporting republicans here. In fact i applaud Bill Clinton's era for creating a surplus and always hate the war monger(read Bush) from the republican side. I am neither interested in any party but my issue is only with this particular healthcare policy changes by Obama. Never in US history after passing a bill and made to law a president went ahead and made his own concessions without taking the congress into account.  And you might have known the famous democrat Pelosi quote before passing obamacare law (“we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it,” )...ROFL

 

The law itself was passed with lies like

• Obama clearly said "you can keep your doctor if you like" before the bill was passed. But that became completely false when the Obamacare law actually kicked in.
• He asked few exchanges to roll back the new plans (to allow customers to keep their old plans for end of year) that were already created and sent out to the customers. The states bluntly refused the request.
• The policies being sold on the exchange have increased the premiums by an average of 15% and the deductible proportionally higher which i don't thinks is called "Affordable"
• Majority of them enrolled on the exchange were for medicare which in itself has defeated the purpose of creating a insurance market place. Many doctors have stopped accepting Medicare patients due to low govt payments and now it is a herculean task for patients to find a doctor.

A free market can never be threatened by regulations from a government. Obamacare dictated that 

• Any organization where employees work more than x hours should have a mandatory insurance. This prompted the employers to reduce the hours for employee which affected their pay check.
• The obamacare regulations has increased an average of 3% cost on each employee because of which companies decided to pay a fixed amount and ask their employees to go to the exchange. Initially this was acceptable but recently released IRS regulations said they will penalize employers if they send their employees to exchanges,
• The more the penalties the bigger the impact of hiring and investing by companies.

I would not comment on Republicans intelligence in this case. But all i can say is no one has conclusively determined the actual percentage of man made green house gases inducing global warming as compared to the regular climate changes that has been happening naturally for centuries.

I would't agree your view here.  They will hire if they need a resource but they wouldn't invest or expand if they are threatened by regulations or penalties or create a atmosphere of "Tax till death" policy. No one does a favor by starting a business but they are the drivers of economy and jobs and that is what is required to encourage them to boost the economy instead of scaring them away. (Typical Bengal or Kerala style in India)

No wonder California has the highest tax rate and still it is bankrupt due to mismanaged welfare policies and continuous burden of illegal immigrants. It is the worst state to start a business followed by New York.

So finally i respect your views although i am not in agreement with them but will give benefit of doubt till next year when Obamacare completely comes into effect. We will lift this thread then :-)

Here Is The Reason For The Total Collapse In Q1 GDP

Remember back in April, when the first GDP estimate was released (a gargantuan by comparison 0.1% hence revised to a depression equivalent -2.9%), we wrote: "If It Wasn't For Obamacare, Q1 GDP Would Be Negative." Well, now that GDP is not only negative, but the worst it has been in five years, we are once again proven right. But not only because GDP was indeed negative, but because the real reason for today's epic collapse in GDP was, you guessed it, Obamacare.

Here is the chart we posted in April, showing the contribution of Obamacare, aka Healthcare Services spending. It was, in a word, an all time high.

Turns out this number was based on.... nothing.

Because as the next chart below shows, between the second and final revision of Q1 GDP something dramatic happened: instead of contributing $40 billion to real GDP in Q1, Obamacare magically ended up subtracting $6.4 billion from GDP. This, in turn, resulted in a collapse in Personal Consumption Expenditures as a percentage of GDP to just 0.7%, the lowest since 2009!



Don't worry thought: this is actually great news! Because the brilliant propaganda minds at the Dept of Commerce figured out something banks also realized with the stub "kitchen sink" quarter in November 2008. Namely, since Q1 is a total loss in GDP terms, let's just remove Obamacare spending as a contributor to Q1 GDP and just shove it in Q2.

Stated otherwise, some $40 billion in PCE that was supposed to boost Q1 GDP will now be added to Q2-Q4.

And now, we all await as the US department of truth says, with a straight face, that in Q2 the US GDP "grew" by over 5% (no really: you'll see).
