Tipplers with deep pockets can now get a new high. Beginning April last week, the excise and prohibition department is to sell leading foreign brands of liquor including Scotch and French wine through the 8000 outlets across the state selling Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL), bars and five star hotels.

Some of the brands that will be on the shelf include Johnnie Walker Red, Blue, Black and Gold Labels, Chivas Regal, Grey Goose vodka, the finest wines from France and Italy as well as Corona beer from Mexico. Not only that, the liqueurs, a must-have in many high society parties, will also be made available. The state hopes to earn another Rs 400 crore additional revenue every year through this.

At present, star hotels are permitted to sell the foreign liquor but have to pay heavy taxes for the same. “Once the AP Beverages Corporation Limited (APBCL) starts supplying the foreign liquor from the month-end, the prices in the star hotels should come down as the tax component will not be high,” said an excise official.

APBCL sources said the Johnnie Walker labels are to be priced in the range of Rs 7,000 (Blue Label) to Rs 2,000 (Red Label) per bottle and Rs 5,000-Rs 10,000 for a bottle of Royal Salute. The French and Italian wines are to be available at a price range of Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 while foreign beer would be at the range of Rs 150 to Rs 200.

that will be available in black.....and the price will be high......but with govt. approval, those brands will be cheaper....

also cheaper in the pubs too..and many guys can afford it..!!

If everything is avaialble thru govt...everything will get lower..
