Death is no occasion to make funny mistakes. And certainly not twice of the same nature in the same state. The Tamil Nadu state BJP unit was in for a rude shock when a condolence message for Union Rural Development Minister Gopinath Munde appeared on a billboard - along with a framed photo of Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan!

The message issued by Kancheepuram Town BJP unit was in Tamil. It read: "Condolences to one of the BJP's senior leaders Gopinath Pandurang Munde who died on June 3 in an accident. May his soul rest in peace."

However, the picture of a smiling Prithviraj Chavan with a halo around his head was what stumped the BJP leadership, leaving them embarrassed.

Scanned images of the billboard, the authenticity of which was not verified, went viral across social media.

This is not the first time such an error has occurred in the state.

In December, another billboard, written in Tamil, was erected by the side of a road in Coimbatore as a memorial to anti-apartheid hero Nelson Mandela, surprisingly carrying a picture of Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman.

Chandrashekhar, who paid for the tribute as a mark of respect for the former president, said it was mistake by the designer which would be rectified.

Morgan Freeman, who played Mandela in the 2009 film 'Invictus' alongside Matt Damon, was unwittingly at the centre of various gaffes following the former president's death, with some Twitter users making the same mistake as Chandrashekhar's.

However, confusing Chavan's picture with Munde's is one of its kind.
