Opt - Taxes

OPT lo unnapudu, i think we only pay  Federal and State Taxes. we do not pay medicare or ssn taxes. How to tell HR on this. 

 

HR ki OPT taxes (student taxes) gurinchi teliyadu...koncham mundhe vallaki deeni gurinchi chepthe better ani (naaku OPT lo anni taxes cut chesdau, HR tarvatha realize ayi  - file tax amendment andhi) .. ippudu  maa cousin ki a siuation avoid chedam anni..

 

Basic, question emiti ante - HR ki ee vishyam ela cheppali ..direct ga cheppavacha or any "Tax Category" undha for OPT??

also, naa case aye example....they did not realize for 6 months even though we told her several times...chivariki after 6 months into OPT, they realized and adjusted for the rest of OPT and for the past ones, I had to claim tax amendment.

oh,is it the same company if it is now they know kada ? status patti em taxes untay accountants ki teliyali kada...

no, different company....accountants teliyali correct but we never dealt with OPT status antaru...

 

naa case aye exmaple.. HR tho prathi pay check appudu cheppa naaku ekuava tax cut avthundhi..vere companies lo maa friends ssn/medicare taxes cut avattam ledhu anni.. appudu HR - we are doing everything right and you should not discuss salary information with others anni naaku sodhi cheppindhi.. after 6 months sorry mail petti we never dealt with OPT andhuke teliya ledhu but we cannot refund as the tax has already been paid however, you  can file amendment when filing your taxes annidhi.. aaa amendment antha extra sodhi work......

in case evariki anna use avthundhi anukonta ... you can tell your HR that "In OPT (F1 Visa), you are generally considered as "Non Resident Alien" for tax purposes.  For Non Resident Aliens, you are exempted from SSN and medicare taxes. Google  "IRS Publication 5.19". if you considered as resident alien for tax purposes, you have to pay these taxes.
