An Alabama man drove to the home of the man who molested his daughter over 10 years ago and killed him after shooting up a gas station.

According to the Cullan Times, 59-year-old Raymond Earl Brooks pleaded guilty to sexually abusing the then 8-year-old daughter of Jay Maynor, 41, in 2002.

He was originally sentenced to five years in prison but received only probation and had to register as a sex offender. He finished paying restitution costs of just $2, 946 in 2009.

Maynor was a witness in the case.

The father has reportedly made no attempts for revenge until last Sunday night after the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office received a call about gunfire at the Berlin Plaza Quick Stop on Highway 278.

In a press release, Sheriff Mike Rainey said,

We responded to the Berlin Plaza Quick Stop where witnesses told deputies a male subject pulled up on a motorcycle before shooting the store’s window.

After the would be victim was able to elude the shooter, the suspect then drove off and went to the residence of Raymond Earl Brooks.

It seems that Maynor only intended to make a short stop before setting out for Brooks but saw a man who had been dating his stepdaughter in the gas station’s window.

The target ran into the store and shielded himself from the gunfire.

Maynor then rode his motorcycle straight to Brooks’ parents home, where he knew the convicted child molester had been living. He killed Brooks with several gunshots.

The shooter was apprehended by an Alabama state trooper who was on his way to the gas station when Maynor’s bike pulled out right in front of him.

Maynor is being held at the Cullman County Detention Center and has been charged with one count of murder, one count of attempted murder and one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling.
