Independent Datamart***

Hello Everybody,

 

Would anybody explain me about independent datamarts in a simple english!! Please take an example and explain it!!

I did google about it but its a bit incoherent for me!! Iam not really getting a big picture on it!!I would really appreciate on it!

Like example theesukoni cheppandi please If anybody has a good understanding on how it works!!

lets say oka bank undhi

bank data motham oka warehouse lo untundhi..which is called REPOSITORY..

bank repository lo nunchi data will goto various projects..

projects like financial info, Loan info data, FED Reporting Data.

 

lets take FED reporting Data project...

ee FED data project ki within repository oka section tayaru chestharu..

FED reporting data is huge usually...endhukantey..a Bank has to report all of its data to FED...to inform their financial performance.

FED antey Federal ReserveBank..(india lo RBI laga)

Since reporting to FED is important for bank...they create a subsection in thin Bank Data Repository.

aa sub section lo all important required data will be stored to generate reports, files for submission to FED.

Such a sub section within the Data Repository is called DATA MART.

in tht DATA MART..data related to only tht project/department is stored.

sometimes Datamart can be a OLTP system too and in that case it can be a source for EDW

 

Datamart can be defined as subset of datawarehouse or data related to one subject area. It can be OLAP or OLTP
