pythonic Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 In Calcutta, there are two police forces which are functional - Kolkata Police and West Bengal Police. The metropolitan areas of Calcutta (I guess the bigger important part) comes under Kolkata Police where as the other parts of Calcutta and rest of West Bengal comes under West Bengal Police. The 'white' color is used by Kolkata police to distinguish between the two. However, it has become prominent to most people who have not lived long in Calcutta / West Bengal because Bollywood has chosen this difference as a way to signify Kolkata.
