pjung88 Posted June 22, 2014 Report Posted June 22, 2014 Friends - planning to open NRE FIXED DEPOSIT account in India. Interest rates almost 8.00-9.00% unnayi kanni US lo CD athie only 0.02%. interest rate of intha difference endhuku?? not sure if there's any caveats with 8.00-9.00% interest rates(other than voiding the maturity period). For understanding - 9.00% @5,00,000INR - annual interest - 45,000 INR per year. Is this correct? na main doubt emiti ante - us lo CD's ki - india lo NRE A/C's interest rate chala differerence undhi- do not know why?? Also, NRE Accounts - konni banks - maturity period less than 2 yrs term athie 8.75% and more than 2 yrs athie 8.5% interest rate?? maturity period ekkuava unte, i thought, interest rate more undali ga(because banks can make more money)?? not sure on the logic here? .. mee lo evarinna NRE accounts unte.. please advice. thank you

But overall, 45 Lakhs investment unte, FD with 9.00% interest rates looks better option then buying a house and renting. again, not sure if I am missing any point.....evarikianna telisthe pls advice cheyandi

Yeah, you are very true, it completely depends one's plans and siutation.
