The first 'Namma toilet' was built at Tambaram bus station in February, which has received a good response from the public because of its proper ventilation and availability of water and lighting. More than 500 people use the 'Namma toilets' which have been set up in Tambaram, Trichy, Ooty and Coimbatore.

Officials in the Commissionerate of Municipal Administration said they were planning to build the 'Namma toilets' on 385 locations across the state.
