Ponte Vecchio, Florence, Italy. The iconic bridge spanning the Arno River is one of the most famous landmarks of Florence. The first documented records of the bridge date back in 996, but it is believed that the first bridge here was build by the Romans. It was rebuild couple of times after being swept away by floods.

Originally the houses were occupied by the butchers. But later they were kicked out by the Medicis, who built the Vasari’s Corridor. Gold merchants established their business here, thus raising the prestige of Ponte Vecchio. Today it is a lucrative workplace for Florentine jewelers, art dealers and souvenir sellers.

Why to go there?

One of the most popular attractions in Florence, having a historical and architectural significance.

When to go there?

All year round.

How to get there?

The bridge and the Vasari’s Corridor connect Palazzo Vecchio, which is a Florence’s town hall, with the Palazzo Pitti. Get there while having a nice stroll in historic streets of the city.
