timmy Posted June 30, 2014 Author Report Posted June 30, 2014 AP to get 177 MW from NTPC’s Jajjar power plant Hyderabad : With the sustained efforts of Andhra Pradesh Government, the Union Ministry of Power has agreed to allocate 177 MW from NTPC Jajjar power plant to Andhra Pradesh which is expected to flow to AP grid within two or three days.Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials of Energy Department/Power utilities to work out modalities for securing the allocated power at the earliest. Consequent to the request of the Chief Minister during his recent visit to Delhi, the Union Ministry of Coal issued instructions to the Western Coal Fields, Maharastra to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the APGENCO for allocation of four lakh tons of coal to AP thermal power projects to optimize coal stock which ultimately pave way for running thermal units at highest Plant Load Factor (PLF). A communication has been received from Western Coal Fields to APGENCO in this regard on Monday.During the telephonic review from Chennai, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to further explore all possibilities for procuring maximum power. “This should be in addition to operating the existing power plants to the optimum level which is the need of the hour to meet the requirements of the people and to overcome power shortage” to the maximum possible extent.“Whatever steps you initiate or propose, the government will extend its full support. Our ultimate goal is to provide maximum power to improve the power supply position in this critical juncture of power shortages. For achieving this, the power officials should work round the clock to provide better services to the people”, the CM told the Power officials.The Chief Minister also directed Energy Principal Secretary Ajay Jain and APGENCO Managing Director K. Vijayanand to liaison with Railway Ministry for arranging the sufficient number of rakes/wagons for smooth transportation of coal to the power stations. The officials informed that APTRANSCO is in touch with Union Ministry of Power for getting the agreed additional power of Central Generating Stations (CGS) of 65 MW after correction of the ratio between the two States.SPECIAL DIRECTIVE TO CMOChandrababu Naidu also directed his secretary in the CMO G Sai Prasad, who served at theCentre as Joint Secretary to continuously interact with officials of Ministries of Coal and Power for regular persuasion on these matters. The officials informed that utilities could supply 129 MU today as against the demand of 143 MU with a deficit of 14 MU (when compared to the shortfall of 24 MU yesterday).

The power is expected to flow to the State grid within two or three days. This move comes in the wake of persistent requests made by Andhra Pradesh Government to the Centre seeking its support in bridging the current demand-supply mismatch in the State. The State utilities could supply 129 million units today as against the demand of 143 MU, leaving a deficit of 14 MU as against a shortfall of 24 MU on Sunday. According to a statement, the Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, has directed officials of Energy Department and power utilities to work out modalities for securing the allocated power at the earliest. Consequent to the request made by the Chief Minister during his recent visit to Delhi, the Ministry of Coal has issued instructions to the Western Coalfields Limited, Maharashtra to enter into Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the AP Genco and the State Government for allocation of 4 lakh tonnes of coal to AP thermal power projects to optimise coal stock. AP Transco is in talks with the Power Ministry for procuring the additional power of Central Generating Stations of 65 MW. This was allocated after correction of the ratio of share between the two states of Telangana and AP.
