Why Is Pulp Fiction Such A Great Movie?

It's very unique, each portion of the story is very engaging and odd. The character's are each created by their dialogue, they way Tarantino creates his character's by giving them quirky and odd dialogue is memorable. The performances are solid as well, the chemistry between John Travolta and Uma Thurman is great and the violence is shocking and unsettling, honestly, have you seen anything like it before? It's considered a masterpiece, because of it's iconic storytelling, it is told out of order, but in the end it all wraps up perfectly. It's honestly, an amazing piece of work. I personally liked Inglorious Bastards and Kill Bill better than Pulp Fiction, but i think that Reservoir Dogs is worse than Pulp Fiction.

1. The Return of Travolta

It’s fun to kick Travolta now that’s he’s down, but Pulp Fiction brought the actor out of Hollywood exile and we loved it. Without Pulp Fiction there’d be no Get Shorty, no Face/Off, no Broken Arrow.

2. The Quirky Criminal

The ’90s brought us an onslaught of weird, goofy criminals all thanks to Pulp Fiction. So now you know what to blame for that bit in Reindeer Games where Gary Oldman plays air guitar.

It was a response to the big studio films of the late 80s, mostly. It had heightened dialogue that both sounded like how people actually talked, but also a crazy version where everyone was far more interesting. It's the writing that was the real selling point of Pulp Fiction. Add to that the revitalization of Travolta's career (he had really been a washout at that point), the weird retro-kitsch that the film celebrates (kind of a mishmash of 50s and 70s style), and the integration of many of the more popular themes of French New Wave cinema into an american film, and the movie was basically unlike anything on the indie scene at the time. They just didn't make movies like that at that time, and the hundreds of movies that have taken from Pulp Fiction since then just prove how influential it was at the time.
