pjung88 Posted July 9, 2014 Report Posted July 9, 2014 Nenu kuda deeni meedha research chesa ..FD ki india better. Higher interest rates compared to usa. manam FD india lo Nro or Nre types lo open cheyavachu..nro athie 30.9 percent tax pay cheyali on the interest. Bank will deduct this amount from your account(TDS). It is the same whether account is in your name or your parents. Nre athie only us(foreign) nunche money deposit cheyagallu. Nre athie india lo tax exempt but us lo you have declare that interest amount for taxes. Also, if your interest earned is more than 2000$, you have to fill some other forms(google that). Both nro and nre will almost have same interest rates. Nri ki additional advantage is if you want to prematurely draw money , I think you can interest rates for upto the term you deposited money. Nre ki no interest will be paid. Also, if plan to do nro do it on your parents behalf that way you do not have to deal with it in usa, even though you wont be double taxed. Naaku telindhi emiti ante deniki ekkauva tax savings untayi nro or nre. Deeni meedha evariki idea undha??
