NRE athie nee peru meedhe chesukovali (or someone in usa) NRO athie, it can be anyone. Nee peru meedha unte, USA taxes lo declare cheyali also, 10k kanna ekkuva unte FBAR form fill cheyali (be it NRE or NRO, as long as it is on your name.) NRE athie you pay tax only in USA. NRO athie 30.9 tax at TDS but you will not be double taxed(india,us) and adjusted tax in usa.FBAR is only a form you declare your values but do not have to pay anything. Eedhi nenu rresearch chesinappudu telusukondhi..

Bhayya..let me explain a bit in detail... you only pay tax on the interest accured. Us lo kuda banks will give you form 1099 for the interest accured(if the amount is more than certain amount). You have to declare that amount in your taxes. Second, most h1b will be "resident" status for tax purposes. So, nuvu nee global income declare cheyali. In this case your income will be the interest you accure. (In case if usa does not do it, many people can easily set up business outside USA in tax free or low tax countries.) Example ga: Nre account undhi anukondam: you invest 12 lakhs with 9% compound interest rate accured per quarter. Appudu neeku 111699 inr vasthundhi interest kindha. 111699/59=1893$ - convert to us dollars for income declaration. Now lets say tax income is 75000, so tax table lo married filling jointly athie your tax is 10614. Kanni nuvu ippudu 75000+1893= 76893,daaniki nee tax 11076. So in usa you will pay 11076-10614 = 462. This makes net profit 1893-462 = 1431 Suppose, india lo NRO open chesthe (either as self or parents) there will be 30.9 tax for the interest accured, which will be 111699*30.9/100 = 34515. So net profit is 111699-34515 = 77184. 77185/59= 1308 Nro nee peru meedha you have to declare in usa but you will not double taxed you have to file some kind of tax adjustment.
mrindia Posted July 9, 2014 Author Report Posted July 9, 2014 Naku Andhra Bank lo savings account vundhi. NRE/NRO kadu...andulo interest vosthundhi 6months ki..adhi kuda declare cheyala?
pjung88 Posted July 9, 2014 Report Posted July 9, 2014 Naku Andhra Bank lo savings account vundhi. NRE/NRO kadu...andulo interest vosthundhi 6months ki..adhi kuda declare cheyala? Bhayya..nenu kuda ee madhya evi anni research chesa..so konni tappulu undha vachu..so do some research on turbo tax or check with tax consultant.. but naaku telisina daani batti.. Yes, you have to declare it in your taxes. Also, if you are based outside india, you cannot have resident savings acct in india but only NRO/NRE acct. I guess nee case lo account was opened before you came to usa and never got switched to NRO. I suppose, if you talk to your bank and plan to open an NRE FD acct, they will first have to switch your resident account to NRO acct and then add NRE.
