always_happy116 Posted July 10, 2014 Report Posted July 10, 2014 Photo: How the iconic climax scene of 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' would change had Kajol tried to board a bullet train India will soon get its first bullet train that will run between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. A bullet is a high speed train that will drastically cut down the travel time for Indians wary of long train journeys. But how will this change an iconic scene from one of India's most beloved Hindi film involving the old chug-chug? I admittedly went slightly overboard (no pun intended) reimagining the climax scene of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. What happens in that scene is that Simran (played by a demure Kajol) finally (and God knows she's waited long enough) gets the green signal from her Amish father (he isn't, but he could have been) to go live her life with her new boyfriend Raj (a brash Shah Rukh Khan). Raj has already boarded the train which is gradually pulling out of the platform and Simran's dad (Amrish Puri) still ho-hums about whether to let her go. Finally he lets go of her hand as Raj mentally probably curses "OH LET HER GO ALREADY, YOU NUTTER!" Next comes a completely illogical sequence showing Kajol running in slow motion towards Raj's outstretched hands, trying to get on the same coach that he is in while a perfectly good open compartment door is right next to her. Five painful minutes later she finally grasps his hand as he pulls her in. Now reimagine that sequence. Raj is on board a stationary bullet train that can reach a speed of 300-350 kilometres per hour. Simran is glancing uneasily at the watch as her father makes up his mind. The final whistle (or whatever they sound on a bullet) has been sounded and the train begins to pull out. "Dad, can I go? Can I please go? We only have about 10 seconds," a nervous Simran whispers to her father. "Hmmm, should I, should I not?" mutters a whimsical Puri. The train begins to pick up speed. The train is gone. "DAD!" "LOL!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdZB-1O3HwM
