Yes you can easily go for stamping after October 1. Lot of my friends went in first week of October to Canada and got approved.

i797 A and B ??? what is the difference ?

when you don get I94 with your approved H1...tht is when u have to go to stamping..

H1 application is in two steps.

 

1. I129 application form for H approval

2. Change of Status from F1 to H1.

 

if 1. gets approved(h-approved) and 2. doesnt get approved..thts when u hav to go to stamping.

this happens with ppl who take CPT from day one and working.

 

USCIS thinks tht...ppl who take CPT are not maintaining F1 status properly..and hence denies them Change of Status...but 

approves H1-application..as there are all docs related to it.

 

so change of status approve kakapotey u have to go for stamping

or you can do Motion to reopen(MTR) and appeal for approving COS.
