Why Is India Called Hindustan?

India has had many names over the centuries: Bharat, Bharatvarsha, Jambudvipa, and of course, Hindustan. 

But is Hindustan a secular name? Does it literally mean “the land of Hindus”? And if so, is that an acceptable name in a pluralistic society?

This short film dispels many wrong notions about the origin of the word ‘Hindustan’.
