Kommareddy Savitri (6 December 1935 – 26 December 1981), was an Indian film actress, director and producer.she was a legendary film actress in india and role model for many actress and considered as of queen of indian cinema. She appeared in versatile roles predominently in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi language films. In 1960, she received the Rashtrapati Award for her performance in the Telugu film Chivaraku Migiledi.

Savitri was born to Nissankara Guruviah and Subhadhramma in Chirravuru (near Tenali) in Guntur, Madras Presidency, now part ofAndhra Pradesh in a Telugu speaking family. Her father died when she was 6 months old. Later, her family moved to Chirravuru. She studied in Kasturbhai High School. She learned music and Indian classical dance from Sistla Purnayya Sasthri, starting from the age of 8 (1941). She performed stage shows as a child.
