Ssn Name Help

In my Passport/ I94/ Visa my First+Middle name was entered as a single name in First Name i.e

First Name: X
Middle Name: Y
Last Name: Z

In Passport/ Visa/ I94 it is as -

First Name: X Y
Last Name: Z

Today I went to apply for SSN and they sent me back saying my First name is big "21 characters" and their system can take only "16 characters". They asked me to change it in US Immigration...

Help me here Pl....

Tell them that Y is your middle name and try ur luck with different office, they should accept u.. 

my case is too long to explain.. I had to legally change my name to avoid further risks..

india lo and ikkada news paper add (around $100), avi petti kotta passport apply chesa ($100), kotta OPT card kosam ($380) and thats it.. all documents changed except I94, which wil change once I go out of the country and come back.. P.S. I was in F1-OPT status when I did all this.. mee status, problem PM chey I will tell you.. 2 yrs research chesa deeni meeda..
