#Bareilly #Uttar Pradesh A 52-year-old man from Bareilly, who went to West Bengal in search of a bride for his son, in turn fell for the girl he had chosen and forced her to marry him instead of his son.

The 25-year-old girl alleged that she was shown the photograph of the man's son as the prospective groom and later asked to marry his father.

According to a report in Times of India, the old man from Lamikheda under Hafizgunj police station in Bareilly went to West Bengal. He met the 25-year-old girl and showed her his son's photos, after which, she agreed to marry him. She accompanied the old man to Bareilly. However on his return, the old man announced that he would marry the girl. He allegedly forced her to marry him despite opposition by his family.

The girl stayed with him for 10 days and then eloped with a local businessman. However, her second relationship allegedly went sour and she left him on Thursday evening. She was waiting to catch a bus when she was spotted by family members of her "husband", who tried to forcibly take her to their house. But the girl raised an alarm.

On receiving information police and locals reached the spot and tried to work out a settlement between the two parties. But the girl refused to budge from her stand, forcing the police to allow her to go to the place of her choice.

Inspector, Hafizgunj police station, Rajeev Kumar Sharma said, "The girl has again gone back to the house of the person with whom she was staying."
