We have embarked on not just making history, but correcting a history of Congress' failures. I have always reiterated that my decision to waive loans for farmers, DWCRA women and Weavers was a desperate measure to revive the spirit of demoralized people, unable to shake off the ill effects of Congress’ misgovernance and faulty policies. Based on the recommendations made by Kotaiah Committee on Loans Waiver, it has been decided that each farmer family will be eligible for a loan waiver – both crop and gold - of up to Rs.1.5 Lakh. Both, those who have already paid and those who haven’t will be eligible for the waiver. It has also been agreed upon that Loans of DWCRA Women of up to a Lakh will be waived. Weavers’ community, historically neglected by the Congress, will also benefit from Loan Waiver.

A special committee will be formed to mobilize required funds for Loan Waiver. Of the Rs. 37,900 Crores required for Loan Waiver, we will seek to mobilize funds to the tune of Rs. 25000 Crores without violating FRBM norms.
