Students Present Ideas On Developing A.p.

Students of various engineering colleges came up with their ideas on developing ‘Seemandhra into Swarnandhra’ by setting up industries and increasing job opportunities in Andhra Pradesh.

Nearly 200 students from different engineering colleges across the State participated in the event organised by Usha Rama College of Engineering and Technology at Telaprolu in Krishna district in association with Global Business Incubator (GBI), on the college campus, near Gannavaram, in the district.

They explained the present power scenario and the need to generate power through different sources, increase revenue, set up industries, provide irrigation, drinking water, employment, education and health facilities in Andhra Pradesh. Machilipatnam Port General Manager T. Subba Rao and scientist and consultant J. V. Krishna Rao were the judges. Usha Rama Engineering College secretary Anil Sunkara, GBI (IT Sector) director Tarun Kakani and others participated.

Focus on tourism

N. Teja Naidu of Annamachari Institute of Technology, Kadapa, said there was a need to boost economy by increasing tourism facilities in Andhra Pradesh.

He gave a power point presentation on how to convert light energy into electric energy, utilisation of solar power, increasing food production by enhancing cultivable area and employment opportunities.

Another student R. Monika of Dhanekula Institute of Engineering and Technology stressed the need for improving security for women.

The participants also advised to develop medicinal plantations, ayurvedic spas, pilgrimage tourism, encouraging bio-gas plants and funding research projects.

Mr. Anil said the best projects submitted by the young engineers would be forwarded to the government and the institute would extend support to the students in taking up research activities.

GBI IT director Mr. Tarun said the organisation would provide financial aid for top ten proposals submitted by the students in the event.

A team would be constituted for studying feasibility on the innovative ideas presented by the budding engineers.
