Protesting Students, Burn Effigy Of Harish Rao

The Telangana government’s decision to regularize the contract employees, could well become another mass students movement from Telangana, with Osmania University as it’s nerve center.

On the lines of forming a Joint Action Committee ( JAC) , the Osmania students are in the verge of forming another JAC, to take the protests to a serious next level.

Thousands of students rallied consecutively on the fourth day, with university students doing protests in campus and road blockades.

A student leader said, ” We will form a new body, called Unemployed Students JAC, which will fight for our rights. Our demand is to stop government in regularizing any gazette posts.  We will protest both in campus and outside campus, intensively from next week”.

Harish Rao’s effigy burnt : 

Telangana’s irrigation minister, Harish Rao was attending a local event, where a few student leaders also attended, they intended to meet the minister to submit a memorandum on the contract employee issue. But, the minister’s security personnel didn’t allow them to enter any further,unrelenting students were pushed away, causing injuries to many.

later, many students gathered at new OU -Library and did a rally till Tarnaka Police station, burning the effigy of the Minister.
