He belongs to Jeedigadda Thanda of Chennaraopet mandal, Warangal district. He got the national award in the year 2002, from the then president of India, Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, for saving his classmates from drowning in a river. Chandrababu Naidu, who was chief minister at that time, announced two acres of land and expenditure for his education. But the officials did not follow up. So Kranthi Kumar remained poor and died of hunger
