Inspired by the great national upsurge of the non-cooperation movement of 1920-21, young Chandra Sekhar joined in wanting to play his part. When arrested and produced before the magistrate he declared his name as ‘Azad’. A firebrand revolutionary was thus born.

After withdrawal of the non-cooperation movement, Chandra Sekhar Azad took up arms to fight oppressive forces and became a contemporary of Bhagat Singh in the freedom struggle.

Today is the birth anniversary of Late Sri Chandra Sekhar Azad who made the supreme sacrifice for the cause of the nation…
