Ruler4Dmasses Posted July 30, 2014 Report Posted July 30, 2014 theres a log file. its big. we dont care about size. it has number of entries init. i dont want to tail the last lines or head the first few .. what i need is i need specific timestamp/timeframe ( need outpput for a specific 10 mins ...01:00:00-01:10:00) i have tried cat abc.log|grep 01:00 .. this only gives me entries for 01:00 .. it doesnt give me the following ones .. how do i get all the entries from 01:00:00- 01:10:00 ... (if i have to do a cat|grep changing 01:00:00 -01:10:00).. then i have to do it 10 *60 seconds 600 times.. then collect 600 outputs).. which is tedious... I dont want a script .. I need a command .. it can be cat, grep or sort awk ... combos.. in linux. please..
