Sachin Tendulkar Keeps Andhra Cricket Association At Bay

Authorities of Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) are caught in a fix over the visit of cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar to the city. Sachin is reportedly not responding to the ACA's requests for an appointment during his brief visit to the city on August 1.

Sachin will be visiting the city to inaugurate a shopping mall owned by Potluri Varaprasad, who is close to the cricketing legend and is also his business partner. According to sources, Sachin is expected to spend about an hour in the city after inauguration of the shopping mall. Although, ACA has not received any official communication about Sachin's trip, the authorities are trying desperately to reach out to him and seek his time for organizing a felicitation function.

Meanwhile, speculation in the cricket lobbies is rife that Sachin's close aide and former ACA secretary V Chamundeswarinath is believed to have advised the former India captain not to accept any invitation from ACA keeping in view his old rivalry with Gangaraju. It may be recalled that it was Gangaraju who dethroned the powerful Chamundi from ACA, and virtually shunted him out of the cricket body a few years ago.

Although, axed from ACA, Chamundi continues to hog the limelight with his high-profile contacts in all the sporting associations.

His proximity with Sachin is known to everyone and, in fact, it was Chamundi who helped Potluri Varaprasad to rope in Sachin for the private function, said an ACA official. "We are still trying to get Sachin. We will be extremely glad even if he spares 10-15 minutes for the felicitation function," Mohan said.
