Media Urged Not To Mislead People

Directing his disappointment and displeasure at a section of the media on Friday, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao requested reporters not to confuse and mislead people with “propaganda journalism”.

“A section of the media here is still trying to defame the government by publishing false news on schemes and programmes. The government will not be cowed down by such propaganda. Instead, we will expose such media before the people so that they can know the truth,” the Chief Minister said, speaking at a meeting on household survey here.

He suggested that the media contact the government before writing something and get the facts right as writing nonsense would not serve any purpose. Over-sensationalising news is not healthy and creating and publishing false news can be counter-productive, he said.

Stating that his intention was not to dictate to the media, Mr. Rao asked the media to change its attitude from blaming/faulting the government for everything. “We can even have a government-run newspaper to convey facts to people,” the Chief Minister noted.
