Ahead of the first independence day celebrations the AP government is on a splurge of sops to people. Besides loan waiver the AP government also plans to announce NTR health cards with a ceiling of Rs.2.5 lakhs worthy cashless treatment for all including journalists.

The AP govt has issued the crucial GO no-174 for farmers loan waiver scheme at Rs.1.5 lakhs benefit for family. 'The loan waiver included farmers loans on crop and also gold and house loans for sake of farming 'clarified the Government spokesman.

The amount of Rs.1.5 lakhs will be given to farmers even though they have repaid the loans, said the CM Chandrababu Naidu expressing his happiness at being able to implement the scheme in spite of many hurdles and also reluctance of the RBI to grant rescheduling of loans for 7 years with two years moratorium as sought by AP government.

The total amount of loan waiver as per the present scheme is expected to be Rs.37,000 crore though the burden is as huge as Rs.87,000 crore. The government fixed the cieling of Rs.1.5 lakh for farmers loans and Rs.1 lakh for the DWCRA women loans per family on the basis of recommendation of a three member committee headed by ex-NABARD chairman P Kotaiah.
