In order to put an end to fake currencies and improving its longevity, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is planning to introduce plastic currency notes next year on a pilot basis. First, it is likely to introduce the plastic notes in Kochi, Mysore, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar and Shimla on a pilot basis and after that it will extend to other places as well. It is also likely to review priority sector guidelines, according to changing economic priorities.
