Spartan Posted September 3, 2014 Report Posted September 3, 2014 The power situation has eased in Telangana state due to favourable hydel inflows, and as a result power cuts in the city have been lifted temporarily. Good hydel inflows are expected to make the next couple of months comfortable. The one-day power holiday has been lifted from the industrial sector. Scheduled cuts have been temporarily lifted in cities and towns as well. Chairman and managing director of TSGenco, Prabhakar Rao, said that the current generation on account of increased hydel inflows was higher than the power requirement. The CMD, during a high-level meeting with Telangana state Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, said that the state will get 2,800 mega watts from Bhupalpally, 600 MW from Jaipur, 600 MW from Adilabad, 1,200 MW from Singareni and 1,000 MW from the Central Station by next October. Mr Prabhakar Rao told told the CM that with this power, the deficiency would be overcome. Additionally, the Rural Electrification Corporation has assured `20,000 crore for Genco, Transco and distribution companies of Telangana state. TS has a strong hydel power base and currently, all its reservoirs are inching close to full capacity, while Srisailam, Jurala and Nizamsagar have reached full-tank levels. If good inflows into the catchment areas continue for another week or two, all the reservoirs will be full. “The boost in hydel generation, currently, has made the situation very comfortable and we have temporarily lifted all scheduled power cuts across Telangana state. The one-day power holiday to the industrial sector has also been lifted. If all reservoirs are full, the power situation in the state will be comfortable for three to four months on account of the increased hydel generation alone,” said operations director, TSSPDCL, K.M.
