JANASENA Posted September 7, 2014 Report Posted September 7, 2014 In May this year, an 800-year old palm-sized statue of Ganesha was found in Goa's Canacona. Barely 4 inches by 4 inches in size, it fits snugly in the palm. The idol most probably belongs to the period between pre-Portuguese era and post-Chalukya Badami period around 1200 AD of Goa's history. For the believers, a lesser known fact is that Goa (or Gomantak as it was called) is also the land where Vishnu's sixth avatar Parshuram still meditates. As a result the konkan coast is still the home of some of the most pious and serene temples in the country.
