The Prakasam District has hogged the limelight of the nation in literacy as there is steep rise due to the efforts of Collector Vijay Kumar . The Central Government has recognised his efforts and he is awarded with the Sakshara Bharath award through President Pranab Mukharjee . Collector Vijay Kumar made the Prakasam District which is lying backward both in the development and literacy to achieve 75.55% literacy from 63 % in just nine months through 'Prakasam Akshravijayam' programm
