Located in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, the railway loop can take tourists through some of the higher and more adventurous part of the area. Tren a las Nubes – Argentina The Tren a las Nubes, or the ‘train to the clouds’ was built in 1932, originally for economic reasons, the train is now solely used for tourism in Argentina. It is the one of the highest railway systems in the world, passing through tobacco fields, and lowland ranches. Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe Train, South Africa This South African infrastructure faced so many knockbacks, that in 2006, after dreadful flooding, it ceased in operation. However, there was a time when a deep breath and a strong stomach would have been needed to step aboard. The Death Railway – Thailand The fundamental reason the death railway has obtained its name is down to the fact that more than 90, 000 labourers and 16, 000 Allied prisoners of war died during the process of it being made. The history of the system has created a chilling experience for those who ride it. White Pass and Yukon Route, Alaska This railway system certainly comes with an impressive history, Built in 1898, during the Klondike Gold Rush, it was deemed an impossible task. The railway climbs almost 3,000 feet in a distance of just 20 miles. Whilst it is a truly remarkable piece of infrastructure, only the brave should ride this exceptionally high railway system Chenab River Railway Bridge, India This railway bridge in India, is currently having works done to it. Once completed it is expected to be the world's highest railway bridge. The Pamban Bridge Built in 1914, this route runs along the southern coast of India crossing the Ramaswaram sea bridge and over the Indian Ocean. It's purpose is to connect the town of Rameswaram, on the island of Pamban Island, to the Indian mainland. The winds that affect this journey are so strong, it takes this train 15 minutes to make it across a distance of 1.5 miles. The vulnerable positioning of the train has seen it experience various accidents over the years.

Works were completed in 1891, and it now runs from Cairns to the town of Kurunda. Darjeeling Himalayan Railway The railway is about 74 kilometres long, and runs between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling in the Indian state of West Bengal, India. The railway was built during the British Raj, and passes through some of the most stunning scenery known to man. However, the carriages are extremely overcrowded, and exceptionally slow. 1
