Can We Run Payroll From Two Employers At Same Time On H1B?

I am working for company A and I got laid off and got two week notice. During the notice period of 2 weeks, I found another consulting job and my consultancy filed for H1B transfer in premium.  Now I got a RFE for the H1B trasfer. My consultancy wants to run the payroll for last two weeks to respond to the query.

Is it Ok to get the pay roll run by consultancy while I am already on payroll with my company A during the lay off notice period?
