BANGALORE: Rape-accused godman Nithyananda has issued a legal notice to doctors who allegedly showed him pornographic videos on Wednesday to test his potency.

The notice, also sent to the Central Investigation Department, says it is unknown in the canons of medical and legal jurisprudence to show porn clips to test a person’s potency. Nithyananda describes the doctors’ attempts to make him watch sexually-explicit footage, knowing full well that he was a sanyasi, as “crude and inhuman”. Porn material is prohibited in India, and its possession and exhibition illegal, the notice says.

Nithyananda says he reserves the right to initiate criminal action against the doctors and investigators, and sue them for defamation and damages. He alleges that he was repeatedly abused in the presence of other doctors in foul language. They didn’t care even about the lady doctors moving around, he claims. 

According to the notice, some doctors gatecrashed and joined the team administering the test. When asked about their identity, they said they were from the nephro-urology department. A couple of them claimed to be representatives of complainant Arati Rao and allegedly treated Nithyananda in a rough manner.

They are said to have advised the doctors conducting the test to inject his private parts with a drug to get a positive result. The self-styled godman claims he had suffered a cardiac problem during earlier tests.

Doctors’ Denial

Doctors at Victoria Hospital, who conducted Nithyananda’s potency test, have denied the allegations and say the report will be ready in a couple of days.
