09/19/2014: H-4 Spouse Employment Authorization Final Rule: Lamb of the Midterm National Election?

• The comment period had expired a way over two months and there is no clue as to when the USCIS would complete a draft of the final rule for review of the OMB. The ongoing political dynamics involving unusual U.S. Senate races in the upcoming National election in about 45 days from now may or may not affect the rule-making process since nowadays political leaders tend to stay away from the term "immigration." Completion of this rule-making process faces a bad "timing" challenge, without any doubt.

09/18/2014: Disapperance of Obama Immigration Pen and House Smooth Passage of H.R. Res. 124 Stop Gap Government Funding Through 12/11/2014

• Readers may remember that some hardcore right-wing Republicans and Tea Party members threatened to move for another government shut-down effective 10/01/2014 by blocking passage of FY 2015 federal government appropriation legislation, should Obama use his pen to sign executive actions to relieve massive undocumented immigrants before the end of the Summer. The voices of these legislators quickly died down afterwards due to potential disaster of another government shutdown to the GOP, should there be another government shutdown. On top of that, Obama decided and announced that he would not sign immigration executive actions at this time. These two factors have smoothed out the political confrontation surrounding federal appropriations legislation and yesterday the House passed the Continuing Resolution to fund the federal government in FY 2015 beyond October 1, 2014 and at least through December 11, 2014. The Senate is expected to agree and pass this House Continuing Resolution quickly.
• One time, there was a fear that the House would attach some bills to such stop-gap funding bill that will defund the Obama Administration's immigration programs relating to DACA and other immigration relief expansion, but it appears the House Republicans avoided such confrontation. Thus, for now, the term "immigration" will remain under the rug at least through the November 4th Midterm National Election. Soon, the lights in the Hill will be turned off since the members of the Congress are expected to return to their states and districts for the pre-election recess of the Congress.
