Puchalapalli Sundarayya (Telugu : పుచ్చలపల్లి సుందరయ్య) (1913 – May 19, 1985) was a founding member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and a leader of the peasant revolt in the former Hyderabad State of India, called the Telengana Rebellion. He is popularly known as Comrade PS [1].[2]

Fired by Communist ideals and egalitarian values, he changed his name from Sundararami Reddy by dropping his caste suffix, reddy. He was so dedicated to the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden that he and his spouse chose not to have children, for the purpose of social service. He directly participated in the Telangana armed struggle against the cruel rule of the Nizam of Hyderabad.

పుచ్చలపల్లి సుందరయ్య నెల్లూరు జిల్లా విడవలూరు మండలం అలగానిపాడు గ్రామంలో ఒక భూస్వామ్య కుటుంబంలో 1913 మే 1 న జన్మించాడు. తండ్రి వెంకటరామిరెడ్డి, తల్లి శేషమ్మ. తల్లిదండ్రులు సుందరరామిరెడ్డి అని పేరు పెట్టారు. ఆరేళ్ళ వయసులో తండ్రి మరణించాడు. ప్రాథమిక విద్యను వీధిబడిలోనే పూర్తిచేసాడు. తరువాత అక్కయ్య వాళ్ళ ఇంటివద్ద ఉంటూ తిరువళ్ళూరు, ఏలూరు, రాజమండ్రి, మద్రాసులలో చదివాడు.ఈయన్ని "కమ్యూనిస్టు గాంధీ" అంటారు.[color=red] పార్లమెంటు భవనంలో 'చప్రాసీ'ల సైకిళ్లతోపాటుఈయన 'సైకిల్' కూడా స్టాండులో ఉండేది. రాష్ట్ర విధానసభలోనూ అదే సైకిల్. పెళ్లి చేసుకున్న తర్వాత సంతానం కలిగితే తన ప్రజాసేవకు ఆ బంధాలు, బాంధవ్యాలు అడ్డుతగులుతాయని పెళ్లికాగానే కుటుంబనియంత్రణ శస్త్రచికిత్స చేయించుకొన్నారు..తండ్రినుంచి లభించిన ఆస్తిని నిరుపేద ప్రజలకు పంచివేశారు[/color].1985 మే19న మద్రాసులోని అపోలో ఆస్పత్రిలో పుచ్చలపల్లి కన్నుమూశారు. హైదరాబాద్ బాగ్‌లింగంపల్లిలో ఆయన పేరుతో గ్రంథాలయం, ఆడిటోరియం, పార్కు ఏర్పాటయ్యాయి.
