Ts Govt. Approved Rs 17.000 Cr Crop Loan Waiver

Hyderabad: As expected Telangana Government today approved Rs 17,000-crore waiver of crop loans submitted by a Cabinet Sub-Committee. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who received copy of recommendations on the crop loan waiver from Agriculture Minister P Srinivas Reddy and others at Secretariat here, issued orders for immediate release of the amount.

 

The CM has asked the officials to release immediately Rs 4,250 crore – a 25 per cent of total amount to be returned to the bankers directly. He also stated the bankers will renew loans to the farmers now. And as usual, the rest of the amount will be in terms of bonds and cheques to be given to the farmers. This will help the farming community to obtain fresh loans.

 

At this juncture, the committee will hold a meeting with the bankers on September 23. With this, the TRS government helped the farmers overcome the danger of bearing penalty if the loan waiver was not implemented by end of September. On this, the committee members congratulated the CM for keeping the big promise including Srinivas Reddy, E Rajender, T Harish Rao, T Rajaiah and P Mahender Reddy.
