After losing miserably in the Lok Sabha elections, the Aam Aadmi Party has decided to be a 'watchdog' in the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana, aiming to expose corrupt candidates, Hindustan Times reports.
 
AAP spokesperson Priti Sharma Menon was quoted by the daily as saying, "We will publish pamphlets and hold meetings and street plays exposing corrupt candidates and encourage citizens to vote for clean candidates."
 
She added, "Our helpline will guide people to fight these corrupt practices and we will take to the streets to protest against this menace."
 
The AAP will educate people on electing candidates with a clean record, Menon said.
 
After a dismal show in the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal had said in June the party should not contest assembly elections in Haryana and Maharashtra, and underlined the need to focus in Delhi.
 
In the Lok Sabha polls, the fledging party had performed badly in both the states - Maharashtra and Haryana.
 
While in Haryana, none of its 10 candidates could get 100,000 votes and lost their security deposit, Maharashtra was no better with the party losing all 28 Lok Sabha seats it contested out of the state's 48.
 
In Delhi too, the AAP failed to win even a single seat. However, it stood second in all the seven seats in the state.
