SKILLS REQUIRED

• Experience with managing high-performance, high-capacity databases in a critical production environment
• Solid experience with Oracle 10g - 12c RAC on Linux (Oracle and Redhat) and HP-UX including installation, administration, troubleshooting and performance tuning.
• Experienced in Oracle Clusterware (GRID Infrastructure) - management and configuration Skilled in Oracle ASM administration Skilled in performance tuning (at SQL, Database and Server locals)
• Solid infrastructure knowledge including high-availability solutions such as Oracle DataGuard, Goldengate, SAN-based replication technologies (SRDF), etc.
• Excellent SQL & database-level performance tuning skills Thorough understanding of backup, recovery and cloning using RMAN, datapump and export/import.
• Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control 12c.
• Experience with Oracle Exadata a plus.
• Ability to write and maintain SQL and shell scripts as necessary to support database operations Able to work co-operatively with fellow team-members and application / development teams.
• Willingness to work a late shift or split week including either Saturday or Sunday;
• Team player with excellent communication skills.

Job Description for Oracle Database Administrator

Tasks

• Creates and maintains all databases required for development, testing, education and production usage.
• Performs the capacity planning required to create and maintain the databases.
• Performs ongoing tuning of the database instances.
• Controls migrations of programs, database changes, reference data changes and menu changes through the development life cycle.
• Implements and enforces security for all of the Oracle Databases.
• Performs database re-organisations as required to assist performance and ensure maximum up-time of the database.
• Puts standards in place to ensure that all application design and code is produced with proper integrity, security and performance. Perform reviews on the design and code frequently to ensure the site standards are being adhered to.
• Evaluates releases of Oracle and its tools, and third party products to ensure that the site is running the products that are most appropriate.  Plan with the application developers and System administrators to ensure
• that any new product usage or release upgrade takes place with minimal impact.
• Provides technical support to application development teams.
• Enforces and maintains database constraints to ensure integrity of the database.
• Administers all database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures.
• Assists with impact analysis of any changes made to the database objects.
• Troubleshoots with  problems regarding the databases, applications and development tools.
• Manage sharing of resources amongst applications.
• Has ultimate responsibility for the physical database design.

Required Qualifications:

• A good knowledge of operating systems.
• A good knowledge of physical database design.
• Highly proficient in ETL, SQL, PL/SQL
• Ability to perform both Oracle and also operating system performance monitoring and the necessary adjustments.
• Be able to provide a strategic database direction.
• Excellent knowledge of Oracle backup and recovery scenarios.
• Excellent skills in all Oracle tools.
• A good knowledge of Oracle security management.
• A good knowledge of how Oracle acquires and manages resources.
• Sound knowledge of web application development.
• Experience and knowledge in migrating code, database changes, data and menus through the various stages of the development life cycle.
• Sound knowledge of the way Oracle enforces data integrity.
• Sound knowledge of both database and program code performance tuning.
• Excellent communication skills with management, development teams, vendors, systems administrators and other related service providers.

Desired Qualifications:

• 4 year degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Data Management
• 7 years in an Oracle DBA role
• 3-4 years working with web application development teams
• Knowledge of web application programming languages Java Script, .Net, HTML5
