Spartan Posted October 3, 2014 Author Report Posted October 3, 2014 Aa $17k meda 40% taxes kattala? nope,,, stocks ki two formats untai... if ur gain was for money u invested within one year...then u need to pay according to Chandrabhais concept..total taxable income kind... ade if ur gain is on money which u investe more than a year..then u need to pay only 15% tax.. na case lo more than two years kabatti..a 17K ki i end up paying around 2500-2800 i think...
Spartan Posted October 3, 2014 Author Report Posted October 3, 2014 It's not like that bro Let's say your salary is 100K add this 17K and so total 117K bracket ki ey tax undo adi Let's say you didn't get paid much this year and you salary is 30K only. Then total taxable income is 30K + 17K is 47K which may be very less tax bracket this is for short term investment.. long term (>1yr) ki only 15% tax..
Aryaa Posted October 3, 2014 Report Posted October 3, 2014 this is for short term investment.. long term (>1yr) ki only 15% tax.. Not entirely correct on long term investment bayya Née total income range 10% or 15% anuko. You don't need to pay tax on this profit at all. Let's say nuv job 4 months chesav mee gross income less 40K Anuko. Née tax bracket 10% ey untadi. Apudu nuv asal ee 17K paina tax kattaka raledu in case of long term gains

Short-term capital gains Short-term capital gains do not benefit from any special tax rate – they are taxed at the same rate as your ordinary income. For 2013, ordinary tax rates ranged from 10 percent to 39.6 percent, depending on your total taxable income. If you sell an asset you have held for one year or less, any profit you make is considered a short-term capital gain. The clock begins ticking from the day after you acquire the asset up to and including the day you sell it. Long-term capital gains If you can manage to hold your assets for longer than a year, you can benefit from a reduced tax rate on your profits. For 2013, the long-term capital gains tax rates are 0, 15, and 20 percent for most taxpayers. If your ordinary tax rate is already less than 15 percent, you could qualify for the zero percent long-term capital gains rate. For high-income taxpayers, the capital gains rate could save as much as 19.6 percent off the ordinary income rate.
