BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has decided to move court seeking to constitute a Special Investigation Team to look into the sudden death of Sunanda Pushkar, wife of Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor. He said he has taken the decision because the Delhi police have not made any breakthrough in the case yet and their investigation can only be termed as 'tardy'.

"The special probe team should comprise officers from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and Intelligence Bureau (IB)," he said. On Friday, Swamy told a Malayalam news channel that he has even met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to look into the case. He alleged that the Delhi police are yet to hand over the documents in the case to the home ministry. He will file a petition either in the Ssupreme Court or the High Court seeking to form an SIT to help unravel the highprofile case.

Last July, Dr Sudhir Gupta, the former head of forensic sciences department of AIIMS, had kicked up a storm by alleging that then union minister Ghulam Nabi Azad had pressurized him to manipulate the autopsy so as to cover up the truth behind the death. Swamy has been maintaining than there was a foul play behind the death of Sunanda Pushkar who was found dead on January 17, 2014, at her suite at Hotel Leela Palace in Delhi a day after her twitter war with Mehr Tarar, who she alleged had an affair with her husband. Sunanda even called Mehr Tarar 'an ISI agent'.
