BHEL will set up 6000 MW thermal power plants in Telangana. Telangana state Genco CMD D. Prabhakar Rao and BHEL CMD B. Prasad Rao signed a MoU in the presence of the CM to establish 6000 MW thermal power plants in Telangana state on EPC basis. BHEL, a pioneer in manufacturing power plant equipment, has been roped in by the state government for establishment of power plants at Kothagudem and Munuguru.

BHEL has already executed thermal power projects in Telangana at Bhupalapally, Singareni Colleries and Kothagudem.

The BHEL will execute the new project in three years on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis, said a statement from the chief minister’s office.

State-owned BHEL is the largest engineering and manufacturing enterprise in India and is one of the leading companies in the field of power plant equipment.

Meanwhile, Telangana government has decided to purchase 2,000 MW of power to meet the needs of the state. The Chief Minister on Saturday approved calling for bids for purchase of 2000 MW on long term basis.
