donganaaK Posted October 7, 2014 Report Posted October 7, 2014 Modi donated between 47% and 63% of his cash, and he was left with only between a max of Rs 23.52 lakhs to a min of Rs 12.34 lakhs cash assets when he became the PM. Calculations and citations below. As per this article[1] dated April 24th, 2014, Modi's total assets were worth Rs 1.65 crore. As per the same article, his cash assets were worth a total of Rs 58,86,700. Subtracting this from his total worth, we are left with Rs 1.06 crores. As per this article[2] , Modi owns a real estate plot in Gandhinagar, and it is safe to assume that Rs 1.06 crore is the value of that plot. As per the first article linked above: Narendra Modi on Thursday disclosed total assets worth Rs 1.65 crore — a rise of Rs 14.34 lakh from his declaration for Vadodara Lok Sabha seat a fortnight back, which was attributed by BJP to fund transfer by the party to an election account of its prime ministerial candidate. The article also says this: His Vadodara election account has a balance of Rs 25.52 lakh. The affidavit also mentions various other accounts in cities of Gujarat. BJP leaders claimed that Kejriwal has not disclosed his election bank account details in his affidavit for Varanasi Lok Sabha seat. As per the affidavit, Modi has total cash in hand of Rs 32,700, bank balance of Rs 26.05 lakh and FDs worth Rs 32.49 lakh, besides other assets and investments. From the above quotes, we can infer that a minimum of Rs 14.34 lakhs (BJP transferred amount) to a maximum of Rs 25.52 lakhs (Vadodara election account) of his cash assets were actually election funds transferred by the BJP, and they were not his personal wealth. Therefore, his personal cash assets before the elections were worth between a maximum of Rs 44.52 lakhs (58.86 minus 14.34 lakhs) to a minimum of Rs 33.34 lakhs (58.86 minus 25.52 lakhs). As per this article[3] , Modi donated Rs 21 lakhs of his personal wealth to setup a welfare fund for the daughters of poor government staff like drivers and peons. That means, he donated between 47% and 63% of his cash, and he was left with only between a max of Rs 23.52 lakhs to a min of Rs 12.34 lakhs cash assets when he became the PM. So, he was left with cash assets worth $38,287 and $20,088 (US dollars) by today's conversion rate.
